This might be a book review...but i'll let you read and decide for yourself.

This is my first digital entry for this month, and im excited to share.
Im reading this AMAZING book that I can’t seem to put down and in just a few short hours, I’ve already read 87 pages. This book is speaking to my soul at the moment from the perspective of a rapper, poet, Sikh man. The last person I would’ve expected to share the same ideas, experiences, and beliefs around love as I have in my own life. This book is beautifully written and I can’t wait to dive in for more.
The reason I had to take a moment away from this book to make my very first entry of the month is because he mentioned something so important in chapter 17 titled: “Self love means knowing what matters”. This made me think about my wellness business and how everyone and everything is telling me that I need to be on social media, Instagram specifically. But I don’t like Instagram at all. I don’t really care for it beyond occasionally logging in and sharing beautiful moments I’ve captured for the day or finding mouth-watering plant based (not really a fan of this words) recipes for the days when I feel like getting creative in the kitchen. Other than that, I find it to be this never ending cycle of “look at me, look what I’m doing now”. And you have to repetitively feed that cycle of short term gratitude not only for yourself but for those following you. It’s the only way to keep their attentions among the millions of others they follow on this platform. Let’s not forget to mention the design of these platforms are to keep you hooked and before you know it several hours have gone by and you’ve done nothing but consumed.
Although all social media is essentially the same, I can’t deny the fact that it’s what we use to connect to the world. I won’t get into my ideas of how we can do this without social media just yet, but… I will say for now, we should play the game instead of getting played. This is something I like to say when we’re faced with the reality that we are living in a matrix, but the spirit always wins and spirit says, “have fun, create your own reality, use the tools that they try to use against you to your advantage, but most importantly, don’t forget who you are.”
Anyway, sorry for the tangent…back to the point of this entry. I’ve been struggling for years with the idea of using social media to share intimate parts of my life and whatever business venture I’m working on at the moment. But after reading this book, and going more within myself these past few months, I’m coming to realize that I don’t need to do what everyone else is doing or telling me I should do. True self love is honoring what feels good and true to me. What feels good and true to me is storytelling…
Storytelling with powerful words of affirmations, sharing my experience, teaching others, and showing visuals of what im referring to is how I like to share. What platform does that better than YouTube? It allows me to live out my younger dreams of being a writer, a producer, a director, a teacher, and so much more. It’s me sharing the world through my perspective and hoping to inspire others, like this book has done for me.
Im not shitting on instagram or any other social media platform, quite the opposite. For me personally, I will continue to use them to share my messages and experiences with the world WHILE avoiding the trap of getting caught in the trance. My purpose is to bring light to those in need, so that they too can find their light. By whatever means necessary.
I find it funny that he started the book by saying that many people will buy this book just to take a photo of it and post it on their social media accounts & Im not going to pretend like I don’t have plans to do the same. But what he didn’t mention was how profound of an impact this book has had on me and has inspired me to write. My only hope is that through my wellness business, through my YouTube channels, through whatever platform you see me on, I am able to do the same to others.
Thank you for helping me realize that there’s nothing wrong with following my truth because ultimately it’s what allows me to constantly be in the presence of love. Because love is a path, not a destination.
