A Real Life Guide to Taking Control of Your Well-Being.

I find it very frustrating that we weren't taught how to take our health into our own hands. Or should I say, we were forced to forget (this is a post for another day). Instead we seek out "professionals" that were taught how to regurgitate facts from a textbook that is based on studies funded by the same companies that provide the pharmaceutical drugs making millions even sicker.

Before I go on a tangent or unintentionally hurt any egos, I will say that the western medical practice can be very useful in most cases such as: trauma, emergencies, end stage dis-eases, and as a supplement to natural medicine. However, the western view of health does very little to promote prevention, instead they focus on symptoms instead of the whole person, which is where the purpose of this essay comes in.

My goal is to help you increase more preventative measures to avoid having to become apart of the well designed system to keep you in a cycle of symptoms. It starts with awareness and goes into your daily lifestyle and habits. You don’t have to aspire to be a doctor or learn the entire Materia medica, but it does help to know the basics and recognize when you are not in alignment with your truest self.

First, lets talk about the common complications or as I like to call them Challenges, that people must overcome which sometimes hinder their ability to take control of their health.

  • Job. Yes, we all have to make some form of living, but when you are not in alignment with what you truly desire to do in this world, making a living can actually be the very thing that is making you sick. If you find yourself in a cycle of waking up, dreading the day, but continuing to do it anyway, just to make someone else's dreams come true, you are not in alignment. In order to get back to you, you will HAVE to make some sacrifices. With the tools I have listed under awareness, you will begin to take control of your mind, thoughts, and habits, and begin to take yourself out of the cycle that you are currently in. This will require time and sacrifice, but remember that wherever your attention goes, your energy flows.

  • School. Some kids have no choice but to go to school because of the way the system is set up. I've written more about this here. Essentially, the public school systems that most of us grew up in were designed for a very specific type of person and does not account for the vast capabilities of our creative consciousness. And because habits are easily formed, a few years of systemized learning becomes the norm for the remainder of an individuals life until they become aware of what is taking place. If you are not in a position to change your current situation whether you or your children are still apart of this system, do not worry, there is still hope. Very similar to what I mentioned above pertaining to your job, as soon as you have become aware that "school" is only a standardized system, you must make the necessary changes to direct learning towards a desired subject. Think about apprenticeships in the old days. This is what creates mastery and a life of fulfillment. But remember the desire must come from deep within in order for it to be fulfilling.

  • Children. Many people, on top of work and school, also have the added responsibility of taking care of children. Having a child is usually when people make one of two choices. They decide that they will no longer contribute to the system and will find a way to provide for their family so that they can enjoy the life that they have created OR, they decide to double down on the life that they are dragging themselves out of bed for for the sake of providing and putting food on the table and never seeming to have enough time in the day. The majority choose the latter. This creates a ripple effect in the lives of the children who, in most cases are not aware that their environment influences their subconscious behaviors well into adulthood. This is how the system is able to continuously perpetuate the idea that you must give up your desires and creativity in exchange for survival. Let me be the first to say that this cannot be furthest from the truth. No matter where you are in this scenario, whether you have no kids, are about to have a kid, or have 4 kids, you must begin now to know thyself and begin to create a life that is no longer dependent on survival. You must break the cycle of birth, school, work, retire, die. There is no satisfaction in that, and you are here to do much more. I will note that there are some individuals who genuinely enjoy the work that they do whether it be in an office, in a field, or on a plane. Those people have already done what I mentioned above, or they were lucky enough to discover their passions and use their will to do just that.

  • Relationships. Without doing the proper internal work, we often times do not realize just how much a relationship can influence our life. We suddenly have emotions arise that we've never felt before. This is because relationships, especially romantic ones, are giant mirrors reflecting upon us some of the worst qualities & traumas that we have subconsciously suppressed throughout our lifetime and maybe even carried over from other lifetimes. Very similar to what I mentioned regarding children, this can also go one of two ways. A relationship can either cause a person to see their blockages, traumas, and insecurities and use it as a guiding force to becoming a better person, or they can consistently deny the karmic cycle of relationships that they find themselves in not realizing that there are lessons to be learned. The latter causes people to stay in relationships that they shouldn’t or leave relationships that they need. Yes. Often times people leave relationships because they are not ready for the change in frequency that the other person is bringing towards them. We must be able to recognize when an individual is there to help us on our journey, and when they're just trying to hold us back. I will say from personal experience, that I've had both. And yes, I too left situations where I felt as though there were too many triggers that I was not ready to address. However, the same situations kept happening until I stopped running and faced my blockages, traumas, and insecurities head on. Im not saying you have to do this while still in the relationship that may be bringing you any sort of complications at the moment, but if you decide to leave the relationship, make sure that you have fully digested and processed the lesson. So that you can work through it and produce better connections and relationships in your life. This is essential to your elevation of vibration and growth.

We tend to get caught up in many of the challenges I mentioned above and for most people, its all of the above. This creates a life where people are just going with the motions as they say instead of taking a moment to asses their current situation, and ask why is it that things are this way? And from there make the necessary choices and changes towards a better life.

Next, lets talk about some factors that you can begin to implement today, to help you become healthier.

Awareness

I will go into each point in later writings, but for now I will give a brief summary of why the following practices are important. Awareness is the moment when people realize that their old thoughts, habits, and reactions were not theirs. Meaning that they were acting as a result of their environment or subconscious. We do this continuously no matter who you are, the difference is what is FEEDING the subconscious and how to recognize when you are acting in a way that does not align with your core beliefs and desires. For example, if you are driving on a main road and someone cuts you off, you either choose to yell and scream and honk uncontrollably because you saw someone else do it before, or you can choose to not have that simple action dictate the remainder of your day by simply controlling your mind and your emotions. In psychology, some would refer to this as locust of control. This theory states that there is a spectrum as to how much people believe that their environment controls their circumstances vs. the belief that they control their environment and their circumstances.

By implementing the practices I've mentioned below, it will become easier to reflect on your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions before you react. We are human, therefore these things are natural, but what will create a life of health and happiness is being able to know when these feelings are in control and not you.

  • Meditation. Begin your daily practice of at least 10 minutes a day and gradually increase until you are able to meditate for 20-30 minutes uninterrupted. Meditation allows you to be able to take inventory of your body and your mind. Do this in the mornings when you first arise, before checking you phone, and before eating or consuming any substances other than water.

  • Yoga. If you are a complete beginner, start with at least one practice a week and gradually make your way to 3-4 times a week. You can find millions of resources on Youtube to begin your journey.

  • Understanding when you are out of alignment. When you are faced with a difficult situation or you feel sick, or fatigued, take the time to analyze what it might be that is causing you to feel this way. Journaling is a great way to do this.

  • Zoom out of the day to day (got this one from a friend). I love this because like the previous point, when we zoom out of the day to day, issues that may seem very big or impossible to resolve all of a sudden become minor inconveniences in the grand scheme of existence.

  • Emotions. Begin to study yourself and the wide range of emotions that you experience on a daily basis. Read about topics such as psychology, mastering the mind, emotions and their link to our experiences, and how emotions are here to help us and not hurt us.

Lifestyle and Habits

Up until this point, I have talked about reasons why people become unhealthy, ways to recognize when you are unhealthy, and now I will give you some ways to maintain balance and equilibrium when it comes to your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

  • Avoid a Sedentary lifestyle. Get up, get active and get moving. Leading a sedentary lifestyle leads to a majority of the health issues we see today. If you do not feel motivated to do so, determine the cause of this lack of motivation. This usually starts with the mind and the frequency at which you are vibrating. Address any traumas or blockages or environmental factors that are keeping you glued to the couch or your bed. From experience, I saw how depression led me down a path of doing nothing for days and having zero motivation to take control of my life. HOWEVER, I had to make a huge decision to pull myself out of that darkness through holistic medicine, learning about myself, changing my environment, and through healing my traumas and blockages. And although I still have my moments, I can say that 99% of my life is filled with joy which leads to lots of movement and expansion of knowledge so that I may pass this feeling onto others.

  • Diets. This one is simple. You are what you eat. And in most cases people do not realize the only cause of their poor health conditions is what they are choosing to put into their body. Keep a clean diet, and as you implement the practices I mentioned above, you will begin to create and develop your intuitive eating habits. You do not have to become vegan, or vegetarian, but you must remove all processed foods, red meats, and foods that are dense in sugars, salts, and poly/unsaturated fats.

  • Consumptions. I have written extensively on this topic here. But to put it in simple terms, You are a product of what your environment this means your physical and your mental environment. Be conscious of who you are with, what you watch, what you listen to, how much you party, how much you drink, and how much time you spend on social media (among many other things). Recognize when you are being distracted and take control of your attention.

  • Spiritual practice. Regardless of your religious or spiritual beliefs, you must develop a daily practice that works for you. Incorporating your spiritual practice with a physical practice is a great way to make sure that you get both done if you are limited in time. This can be a prayer or simply just a moment of gratitude to whoever your creator might be. Thank them/you for the balance you have received in your mind, body, and spirit. And ask that you be blessed with the ability to maintain this balance and recognize when it has become compromised.

I hope you're able to use this comprehensive guide to finding balance within as a tool on your journey whether you are just starting, or are well advanced in the world of spirituality and well-being. I wish you the best on your journey.

Peace & Love, Kai  🧡
